A One Day National Workshop on “Research Methodology” was organized by the Research and Development Cell of Fazl Ali College in collaboration with the Department of Sociology, Nagaland University on 14th September 2022. The event was conducted with the participation of 57 participants which comprised of teaching faculty from various colleges and research scholars from Nagaland University and NIT. Mr. P. Tiatemsu, Assistant Professor Department of Botany chaired the inaugural session, while Dr. I. Wati Imchen, Principal Fazl Ali College welcomed the participants and highlighted the Importance of research.

The workshop was divided into four technical sessions. The first session was on the topic “Report Writing in Research Methodology” with Prof. Athungo Ovung, HOD, Department of Sociology, Nagaland University as the resource person. In the first technical session, the resource person highlighted about report writing and discussed about the basic ingredients for writing a research report. He further presented a comprehensive layout of report writing. The same resource person also spoke on “Ethical Consideration in Research” during the second technical session. He talked about the importance of ethical norms in research, objective in research ethics, fundamental ethical principles and the codes and policies for research ethics.

The third and the fourth technical sessions were conducted in the afternoon where Prof. Joydeep Baruah, Professor and Director, School of Social Sciences, KKH State Open University, Guwahati talked about the quantitative aspects of conducting research. The topic for the third session was “How to do Sampling” and in the fourth and the final session the resource person spoke on the topic “How to Generalise Sample Results.” The moderator for the first two technical sessions was Dr. Adangla Changkija, HOD, Department of Sociology, Fazl Ali College and the third and the final technical sessions were moderated by Dr. Imcharenla, HOD, Department of Economics, Fazl Ali College. Dr. Phyobenthung, Chief Editor, Fazl Ali College Journal Committee presented a comprehensive feedback on behalf of the participants and                      Dr. J. Limainla Ao, Recorder, RDC, Fazl Ali College gave a brief summary of the workshop. The Program culminated with a vote of thanks from Dr. E. Benrithung Patton, Convenor, RDC, Fazl Ali College.
